My Book Live Read/Write Speed Test

My Book Live Read/Write Speed Test Video Clips. Duration : 8.27 Mins.

BigNate84.com - In this video I'll show you some actual read speeds of the Western Digital My Book Live home network drive. In order to experience optimal read/write speeds you'll need to have a Gigabit network. The router used in this video only supports Megabit speeds, so the transfer speeds end up being well below spec. I know some people say it's not a "fair" test and I agree with them. Hopefully this will serve to inform people of the speed difference between megabit and gigabit network devices. With a megabit network your transfer speeds will be slower than a USB drive. However with a gigabit netwrok you can get actual read write speeds of up to 80 MBps. MBL 3TB: amzn.to I'll be comparing it to a Maxtor Personal Storage 3100 USB 2.0 external drive just for fun. When I set out to create this video I did not realize my network was such a bottle neck. The WD MBL is really a great product. You'll just need to have a gigabit network to experience faster read/write speeds. To get the most out of a network drive you'll need to do your home work and make sure your router and/or switch can support the speeds you want to achieve.
