CloudStack In Production - Considerations and Design

CloudStack In Production - Considerations and Design Tube. Duration : 52.85 Mins.

"CloudStack In Production - Considerations and Design" by Clayton Weise and Kelcey Jamison-Damage at the CloudStack Collaboration Conference 2012. Slides: slidesha.re Audience level: Intermediate This will be a general overview of the different components of CloudStack, how CloudStack interacts with Xen and KVM hosts, as well as storage, networking, permissions, and usage accounting. This will be a talk followed by some open Q&A and discussion from two CloudStack users from separate service providers in the US & Canada. This is based on our experiences with CloudStack and the lessons we have learned in how to properly design your infrastructure and CloudStack installation. CloudStack has many moving parts, and although we will not get too far into the details of each piece, this will be a general overview of the different components of CloudStack. Some example deployments will be provided, how CloudStack interacts with Xen hosts and KVM hosts, as well as storage, networking, permissions, and usage accounting. We will cover how CloudStack handles the automation and configuration of external network devices as well as internal interfaces on the hosts. We will discuss how CloudStack can be used to help automate both large scale networks (100's to 1000's of physical hosts) when VLANs don't provide enough flexibility for guest separation, and on smaller scale deployments when VLANs provide a simple and straight-forward method. CloudStack manages two types of storage: primary ...
